Responsive Website Design

Your website is the heart of it all!  With dual purposes, it is your virtual spokesperson communicating with the world on behalf of your business. It is also your representative to the search engines, directories and social sites, on which you are judged against your competitors. No amount of marketing budget is worth anything unless you have a good strong heart to support it.

Improve User Experience

Responsive Web design is essentially designing and building a website that will respond to the user’s behavior and environment based on device, screen size, platform and orientation. With such a wide variety of computer monitors, laptops, tables, smartphones and the various platforms users can use to view websites in, it’s a must in today’s world that your site is built to display properly in all situations. Users expect to have a great viewing experience whether they look at your site at home on a desktop monitor or walking the shopping mall using their mobile device.

Search engines also expect all websites to be responsive to both desktop and mobile users. It’s all about user experience (UX) which we get into more detail on our UX page, however UX  starts at the building stage. Kastle only produces mobile friendly websites using WordPress which is one of the most popular and respected website platforms in the industry.

Common Website Terms

The header is the very top section of your website which usually contains your logo, business name, contact information and social integrations.  This has been the customary design for decades and avid internet users know and expect to go to the top for this information.  Modern designs have been straying from this pattern however we suggest you test it before you go too far from the main stream.

Your main menu will generate a majority of engagement by users if it is laid out well and has the desired result intended by the user.  Best practice is not to over due your main navigation menu, keeping options to max 7 or 8 depending on the character length of each link.

Way down at the bottom of your page is your Footer section.  The footer is typically used to house any extra information like extra page links, legal information, social media widgets, and of course contact information.

The body of your webpage is simply everything in between your header and footer.  Careful planning and design must be implemented when building the body of your website as this is where most of the action happens.  Quality design will bring you more customers where a poor design will not only cause users to leave your site, but will cost you in marketing budgets spent to get the users there in the first place.

Call To Actions vary from simple anchor links (clickable text) to buttons to images to hover functions or any other option to the user that will further them down their path of conversion.  Initial design of a website often changes many times after analyzing results and implementing UX strategies, all to improve the conversion rate of visitors and drive a higher ROI for your business.

Sliders are typically seen right below the header on most sites, however with more modern designs you can often use a slider in the body of websites to add some animation to the page while introducing more information to the user than one static image can.  Sliders have many different animation abilities and can also be video feeds to impress your user.
